Growing up on the shores of Puget Sound outside Seattle, I dreamed of marine biology. It never occurred to me to become a doctor. But along with an ever-present passion for science, I gradually realized I had an affinity for walking with people through their darkest times.

After completing a MD and PhD at UNC-Chapel Hill, I did residency training at Brown University in Rhode Island. The next four years I practiced Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Cone Health in North Carolina while teaching and learning along with students and residents. Spurred by deepening disillusionment with the US medical system and eager for a new cultural experience and pace of life, I am moving with my family to Gisborne, New Zealand.

I hope to continue exploring the intersections between medicine and the humanities while learning from the medical system and culture of Aotearoa, exploring new sports like cricket and rugby, singing and playing ukulele, and reveling in that beautiful bit of the earth.
